I barely got to the cave (1/2 mile) before the rain started. The wind blew the rain into the cave as I struggled to protect my already completed work and in the end, the cave started leaking. It was dripping on my supplies and it took an hour for one wash to dry! The temperature dropped. It was intense. During the next lull in the storm, I decided it was time to hike out. Ironically, a few hours later, the sun came out - but it was already too late. It is nearly impossible to paint stormy rain conditions when it is sunny!
Later, I varnished the watercolor and framed it without glass.
